Team up with the Burnes and the Haders to win the fight against pediatric cancer

September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, and this year Tiny Turnip is proud to be partnering with BDF and Major League Baseball players and their families across the league, led by the Burnes and the Haders, to raise funds and awareness for BDFs mission to best POSITION each “Baller” (what BDF calls patients in its program) to WIN his or her fight with cancer. The Crawford family, their team and many families across the league will join in this collaboration to help these families be in a Position to Win.

When Frank DeBlasi was diagnosed with testicular cancer, he was fortunate to have many people in his life -  including family, friends, and co-workers - to provide emotional and daily living support while he underwent treatment.  This support put Frank in the best position to win his battle against cancer.  He promised that, if he survived, it would become his mission to ensure young people would never go through their battles with cancer alone.  The Baller Dream Foundation (BDF) was born.

The “Position to Win” design was created by Tiny Turnip’s owners, Rachel Luzi and Jalynne Crawford.  The design features a baseball field surrounded by a yellow ribbon for pediatric cancer awareness.  In baseball, there are 9 positions on the field, and support from each position is critical for winning the game. “Family” surrounds home plate - the most important spot on the field.  Each remaining position is held by one of eight supporting ideas, Faith, Hope, Courage, Fans, Strength, Support and Believe.  The overall design symbolizes that when a “Baller” takes the field, it's up to us to give them the best position to win the fight.

Pediatric Cancer is a killer that does not discriminate. It affects children regardless of their age, gender, race or socioeconomic class.

  • 84% of families with a child that is battling cancer will experience some level of financial hardship.
  • Only 4% of the annual research budget in America goes to pediatric cancer.
  • 1 in 4 families lose more than 40% of their annual household income as a result of childhood cancer treatment-related work disruption.

You can help by sharing this article with friends and relatives, following us and sharing on Instagram and Twitter, donating to BDF directly through our product pages, or purchasing items from the “Position to Win” Collection on TinyTurnip.com.  100% of profits from the sale of items in the “Position to Win” collection will be donated to The Baller Dream Foundation

Throughout September, Tiny Turnip will also be auctioning one-of-a-kind, autographed memorabilia generously donated by several MLB players and their families - with 100% of proceeds going directly to The Baller Dream Foundation.  You can find all items currently available for auction here: https://tinyturnip.com/collections/position-to-win-auction

Together we can make a difference, bring smiles to these brave children and their families, and be in a position to win the fight against pediatric cancer.

Notes from the Families:

“The Burnes Family is honored to partner with the Baller Dream Foundation during pediatric cancer awareness month by launching a collaboration with Tiny Turnip. As we became parents earlier this year, we couldn’t imagine what these families affected by pediatric cancer are going through on a daily basis. We hope that this collaboration provides more fundraising efforts to help find a cure for pediatric cancer and a glimmer of hope for all the patients that are fighting this horrible disease. We ask that you join us in the effort and stand with all the families to find a cure.” - Corbin & Brooke Burnes

“The Hader family is truly honored and blessed to be able to be apart of raising awareness for pediatric cancer by partnering with Tiny Turnip and launching t shirts to raise money for the Baller Dream Foundation. We can’t even imagine what these families and sweet children have to go through day in and day out. We hope this collaboration helps raise more awareness and efforts into finding a cure for this horrible disease and these beautiful children no longer have to suffer. We ask you all to join us and the Burnes’ family in helping us raise awareness and find a cure for pediatric cancer.” - Josh & Maria Hader

I purchased a shirt for my principal’s grandson who is 11 mos old and battling brain cancer. As a two time survivor myself, I literally used the thought of children as my hero’s during my treatment. I purchased his shirt and then his parents purchased more. Please support #Henrystrong in your thoughts and prayers.
